It's getting Hot in Here

so take off all your clothes

I really don’t care for pop music – but when an artist I admire redoes a pop tune I find it highly entertaining. In case you didn’t realise already, this a post about a couple of covers of Nelly’s “Hot in Here”. Nelly is probably an epitome of why I don’t like commercial rap/hip-hop, but I really don’t mind these covers.

Apparently it’s a popular song too. The song was parodied as “Trash Day” by “Weird Al” Yankovic, covered by BossHoss, and even Coldplay apparently do live covers.

Those are not the covers I’m sharing with you today though. Instead I give you Tiga’s electro/house version:

I also had another entertaining live version done by some one else, but for the life of me I can’t remember who.

Update: I remembered. It was done by a “southern rock group” called Widespread Panic. But is much more like funk then rock.

His Whoreness (18:19:41) :

despite how odious an individual he is you can’t fault Nelly for his timing and rhythm – it sounds lazy and doesn’t seem like it should work but it does – and that my friend is all I care to say on the subject

as for Tiga’s cover, I’ve always quite liked it and its accompanying muppetesque music video – it’s a shame his DJ Kicks compilation and latest album Sexor aren’t entirely worth writing home about – have you heard his disco remix of Soulwax’s E Talking? – now that’s a magic track

Yeah, Sexor wasn’t that special, but some of the remixes are sweet. Haven’t heard the E talking remix yet, but thanks pointing it out, I’ll go track it down now!
