Friend's request mashup mix
8 03 2007
A while back I did a friends request mashup. It involved some crazy artists I had to attempt mixing (hey, YOU try mixing death metal, IDM, the music from the game DOOM, some Beck, and Paris Hillton). It’s about time I do a new request mix – I might be insane, but hopefully my mixing over the last few months will give me some mad skillz to tackle what everyone throws at me.
Rules are – you can request an artist, or you request 2 specific songs. I’ll probably only mix one, but having a choice gives me some room to work.
[ Special shout outs to His Whoreness for a delectable package of music arriving in my mailbox yesterday, you rock dude ]

I’d be interested in hearing what The Monks would have sounded like if they had met The Silver Apples.
Polarise – A Swarm of Angels
Haysi Fantayzee – Shiny Shiny
*sticks out tongue and throws down gauntlet*
I had steeled myself for the requests I was going to receive. The mix will be interesting at the very least!
I’m glad we’re enjoying the new tunes – I may have some new ones to send your way when I get back to our nation’s capital to the land of the long white cloud
I’d like to make a request for Billy Idol, but not just any Billy Idol – no, I want Christmas Album Billy Idol
You evil evil man!
Ok I have a few more requests…
La Musique : Riot in Belgium
Testarossa Autodrive (SebastiAn Remix) : Kavinsky
Dancing Queen : Abba
Homecoming : The Teenagers [more for the lyrics than the song itself]
Why You Have To Be Me : Whitey
Love Is A Deserter : The Kills [more for the growling guitar riff]
Dance Me In : Sons & Daughters
Tombstone : Midnight Juggernauts
Ray of Zdarlight : The Avalanches
Hand To Pone : Adult.
and last but by no means least…
Grace Kelly : Mika
I know that’s quite the polyglot of suggested tracks but I couldn’t let you get away with only three suggestions – I have a reputation as an evil evil man to maintain
hah! Thanks – there are actually I whole lot more requests that I’ve been getting from other friends. But I’ll definitely try and squeeze as many of yours in as possible – since it’s my genre of choice.
[...] So after learning how to use Ableton Live, and tracking down all the songs that people requested, I’ve put together the second friend request mashup. Some of it’s pretty awesome, other parts are a bit messy, but if I don’t release it now I’ll keep fiddling around with it much more than I really should (I have that study-thing which I should be focusing on right now) [...]
