Scuola Furano, from Italy, sent me a minimix with some of their new tunes, to be on their EP coming out in June. They’ve played with the likes of Justice, Busy P, SMD, Uffie, Sebastian. 3 years ago they released an album and also an ep last year – and look to be coming back strong.

Here’s the blurb they sent with the mix:
“Hey creep, you heard it on the radio, you seen it on the tv show…Scuola Furano are back! Hot on the heels of recent massive live dates with Justice, Chemical Brothers, Snoop Dogg and more, SF have taken some time out to prepare a FFFRRREEESSSSHHHH mix in collaboration with MySpace and MantraVibes rec. Including 3 HOT new tracks and 3 old skool CLASSICS…
Check it out!”
It’s quite housey and minimal in parts, but sometimes that’s a GOOD thing. More for the contrast when glitchier stuff comes in later.

Tyler from Young Americans passed me this excellent track. Glitchy and electro, it hits the right spots for me.

(Note: Still catching up on some musical goodies that were emailed to me. They’ve most likely popped up elsewhere, but if you missed out first time round, then lucky for you I’m posting them now)

Man, I’ve been hellish busy recently, so this gem of a mix from none other than La Grève Générale has been sitting sparkling away in my inbox for a couple of weeks now. You’ve probably seen it floating around the mp3 blog scene already, but if you missed it, grab it now. It’s some good stuff, a recorded live mix from Rave or Die at the Rocklands Party in London held Saturday 5th May. LGG seem to never disappoint me.
I think it’s the eclectic and interesting track selection that does it for me. Keep it up guys!

Shiny was an awesome night. I turned up early to help set up the sound and decor, as did alot of the Wellington Dance Collective members. There were hundreds of silver circles to decorate the walls of the bar with, and the insides of a parachute to set up for a chill space.
Things started around 10:30, a bit later than planned as the first DJ, Dave, was coming straight from a radio show with the CDJs. He warmed the crowd up with a bit of house, and then I was on with my set, I was really happy with the crowd’s response, plus there were heaps of people I knew there, which made it a really supportive atmosphere and I mixed things up a bit. I threw in Cosm’s remix of Queen’s Another one bites the dust (download) to represent the Christchurch scene and because I knew a few people in the crowd liked Cosm’s stuff.
